HI 222 - Professional pH Meter for Wine Analysis

Recognizing dirty pH electrodes Most pH measurements in the process of making wine are made in the must. A pH electrode gets dirty very rapidly when measuring the pH of must. This is because sediments deposit on the sensitive pH measuring bulb and on the pH electrode junction. This becomes a big problem during the actual pH measurement and even after, if the electrode has not been properly cleaned. A dirty pH electrode can give inaccurate results that are up to 0.5 pH, even after a pH calibration has just been performed. Knowing when to clean pH electrodes Conventional pH meters do not warn the user when the pH electrode is dirty. A common example of this occurs when, just after calibrating the instrument the pH electrode is immersed into the pH 7 buffer, and the reading is lower than expected (pH 6.8 or 6.9
instead of 7.0). HI 222 uses the HANNA instruments®’ unique technology to detect when the electrode is dirty and give a warning during calibration. Cleaning pH electrodes It is of the utmost importance to properly clean the pH electrode prior to use. A proper cleaning of the electrode must be done with appropriate cleaning solutions, in order to remove all the deposits on the sensitive bulb and on the junction. HI 70635 (wine deposit removal) and HI 70636 (wine stain removal) are tailor made cleaning solutions for wine making.

With a resolution selectable between 0.01 and 0.001 over the -2 to 16 pH range, pH 212 and pH 213 are designed for those users that require added accuracy. The pH and temperature are displayed simultaneously and all pH measurements are automatically compensated for the effects of temperature. pH 213 also measures mV range when used with ORP electrodes. The large horizontal display shows both pH (or mV) and temperature. Calibration can be at one or two points aided by automatic buffer recognition at pH 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18 and 10.01. A stability indicator ensures proper calibration and accurate measurements. Any particular measurement can be stored and recalled at a later time. The front label carries clear and concise information about how to operate the meter. pH 212 and pH 213 are supplied complete and ready-to-use with a laboratory-grade glass pH electrode, stainless steel temperature probe, electrode holder, 12 Vdc power adapter and calibration buffers. Both meters are also supplied with an opto-isolated RS232 port for PC connection.

The pH 210 and pH 211 are advanced microprocessor based bench pH meters that are easy to operate, perfect for quality control laboratory applications. pH 210 performs pH and temperature measurements, while pH 211 also measures in the mV range. Precise and inexpensive, these meters are ideal for a wide range of measurement applications. Both instruments have 5 memorized buffers for calibration (pH 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18 and 10.01), and the automatic recognition system eliminates calibration error. The user is guided through the calibration process with simple instructions on the display. Temperature compensation is automatic thanks to the probe supplied with the instrument, if necessary the user can also set temperature compensation manually. The large display shows pH (or mV) and temperature values simultaneously. pH 211R is a separate model that also features 0-5 V analog output.

pH 209 is a rugged laboratory pH meter, specially designed for students. The keypad has soft membrane keys for changing the mode, and easy to use knobs for slope and offset calibration. The pH offset and slope are manually adjustable in order to display the calibration concept and electrode characteristics to the students. Measurements in pH can be performed with manual temperature compensation. The selected temperature is displayed to ensure better accuracy. The meter also measures ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential). Practicality, simplicity and comprehensive operating procedures make this meter one of the most popular, basic pH meters available today. For added versatility, pH 209R offers analog output (0 to 5 V), that represents the full pH and mV range.

pH 20 • pH 21 - pH Measurement Has Never Been So Easy
